Why Are We Donating To The Arbor Day Foundation?

From my research over the past few months, the Arbor Day Foundation has emerged as one of the leading and premier tree-planting non-profits. The history behind this organisation is quite interesting actually and goes back to 1872 when a man named J. Sterling Morton started a local 'holiday' which encouraged the people of Nebraska City to plant trees — around 1 million trees were planted in the local area on the first day alone! One century later in 1972, the Arbor Day Foundation was officially created, and since then has planted over 250 million trees!

The seeds that Mr. Morton planted nearly 150 years ago are still growing and spreading trees — quite literally from those first trees — but also ...

Why Are We Donating To Cauvery Calling?

Hello everyone! Following on from my previous post, in which I did my best to explain why the money raised via iDonateByShopping.org should be donated towards planting trees... here I will explain why we are donating to the 1st of our selected charities. iDonateByShopping.org is a fund-raising non-profit organisation, and I believe there is a very large responsibility to donate the money raised to the most cost-effective and appropriate tree-planting projects. With that in mind, let me introduce our most cost-effective donatee.

The first of our selected tree planting projects is named the Cauvery Calling, which is run by the Isha foundation. This particular mission is based in southern India, and it is a very massive tree planting operation, with the goal of planting 2.4 billion trees in the Cauvery (or Kaveri) basin (compare this to the 20 million that Team Trees raised money to plant in 2019). I like how the founder of the Isha foundation puts it... 2.4 billion trees seems like a huge amount, but after all, there are over 7 billion humans on Earth!

This project is as much about serving humanity as it is about ....

Why Are We Donating Millions Of Dollars To Plant Trees?

frosted leaves Christmas tree

There are two ways to meta-analyse this article. 🤔 Since at the time of writing, I am only beginning the process of publicising iDonateByShopping.org, we are definitely not raising millions of dollars a year! It's more like hundreds at this stage. So one could view this train of thought as counting one's chickens before they've hatched... but I'd like to frame it as an affirmation... stating the truth in advance! Indeed, the goal with iDonateByShopping.org is nothing short of raising millions of dollars a year, as I can see a huge potential for the service.

But quantity of income aside, there is still an important question here. Another alternative title I had in mind was "Where Would You Donate A Million Dollars A Year?" In other words, where is the best place to donate money if we want to make a positive change in the world?

How Many Christmas Trees Can We Save Each Year?

Welcome to my Christmas special article!

I simple question arose today, as I am very interested in proliferating trees around the globe — how many Christmas trees do we use each year? I mean to look at the question here in a lighthearted manner as a matter of curiosity — ethical investigations explode in complexity very quickly, so we won't touch that here. And besides, I have a full-proof solution to make up for the loss of trees Christmas induces, but more on that later!

Let's delve into it and recognise that families love their Christmas trees! Money speaks louder than words, and American families dish out over $70 a tree on average. These days ...

New Study Finds Planting Trees Can Reduce CO² Levels By 25%

I am a believer that eventually, whether we like it or not, humans will burn most of the fossil fuels available to us - and consequently release the carbon into the atmosphere.

Interesting fact: for every kilogram of fuel you burn, you release about 3.7kg of CO² into the atmosphere.
Click below to plant some trees!

We definitely need to develop stronger sources of renewable energy in order to keep our civilization powered after the fossil-fuel era — but in order to control the amount of CO² in the atmosphere, for pollution and global climate concerns — my thoughts have recently been that we need to show some ingenuity and engineer 21st century solutions. But we may not need a high-tech solution to get us started...
